MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

I’ve worn many hats throughout my career; from that of a child protection officer, to a medical social worker, to a drug counsellor/correctional social worker working with adult drug abusers and incarcerated persons, to being a part time lecturer at The University of The West Indies Cave Hill, in addition to working with survivors of domestic abuse and violence, persons with disabilities, and being a school based social worker.

Through my studies in clinical and administrative social work I was taught the art of designing assessment tool kits in numerous areas from the assessment of emotional well being to predispositions for social deviance and anger inventory index tools to name a few. In addition over the span of my career I have consulted on local, regional and transatlantic assessments  providing guidance, counseling and intervention support in numerous areas, from that of education to working with persons severely affected by traumatic experiences, for example through the social work agency I was attached to in New York, I was tasked with providing crisis intervention support to affected individuals following the events of September 9/11 and the crash of AA flight 587 on November 12th, 2001. Even within Barbados I have engaged in crisis intervention support and counseling to individuals and families following the apartment cave- in that occurred in August 2007 as well as throughout the Covid 19 pandemic.

Based on my varied and diverse roles it would be accurate to say that I have never viewed social work as just a job. Social work is and has always been my passion.
